Courses for 2012 begin mid February

Looking ahead this year.  At The Print Shed couses will start mid February, on offer as always, Low toxic Etching, Lino using the wonderful big Imperial Relief Press, Collagraph either as an introduction/refresher course or more advanced using all manner of odd items to collage onto your printing plates.  Good fun and we get to use the blow torch to melt stuff too.

New this year to the programme is Monoprint, this is a great way to work.  Again there are so many different ways to do this that I can only touch the surface with this method.  I am hoping my students will be able to show me some different tricks too!

Last year The Print Shed took part in a Print Exchange project with Hot Bed Press Studio - we all made 25 editioned prints on 20cm square paper - sent them off to HBP - and every participating artist received in return a very smart little Port Folio with containing 20 different prints.  We were very excited and would definitely like to join the project again next year.  The whole 20:20 Exchange Project - all 250 prints from 15 studios throughout the UK will be on show at The Print Shed in March this year as a part of the 20:20 Travelling Exhibition.  Details will be posted as soon as I have them.

Artists who work at the Print Shed have asked me about links to their websites so check out the following:

h.Art 2011, Christmas and a New Exhibition

The Herefordshire Open Studio event, h.Art, was really good for us this year.  Many new visitors called and old friends returned - it was delightful to meet so many interested people.  Thank you so much for supporting us.  I ran a Charity Project this year -  a wonderful tree was painted on the gable end wall inside the new space (thank you Ursula!) and members of the public were invited to 'Print a New Leaf'.  For each new artistic leaf we asked if they would pop a donation in the bucket for Macmillan.  Our 4 metre high tree was burgeoning with new leaf growth at the end of the ten days and the bucket was very heavy indeed.  Thank you to all who supported the event.  I was able to donate a cheque to Macmillan for £305.  Thank you very much to all those who joined in the event and made our donation possible.

The next thing, before we knew what was happening it was Christmas.  Our Christmas Open Studio was brilliant - we opened for four days over the first weekend in December, people kindly came and bought their cards and gifts.  Another charity project greeted our visitors, a wonderful Advent Calendar beautifully made by Andy Tulk.  A donation opened a door to reveal a surprise Christmas gift and we raised an astonishing £264.44 again for Macmillan.  Thank you so much everyone.  It seems we have set a precedent for having a 'Hands On' project at The Print Shed - WATCH THIS SPACE FOR THIS YEAR'S H.ART!

This year The Print Shed took part in a Print Exchange project with The Hot Bed Press Studio of Salford.  Ten of our artists each made editions of 25 small prints.  These were all sent off to HBP and in return each artist received a smart little Port Folio containing 20 prints.  All our boxes were different so there was much excitement over lunch and wine to examine the contents.  All 250 prints from the whole project will be on show at The Print Shed in March this year. As soon as I have the detail I will post it on the website.
