Welcome

Artist owned Dedicated Printmaking Workshop set in delightful rural location six miles west of Hereford city. The Print Shed is suitable for monoprint, collagraph, carborundum print, etching, lino block, solar plate printing, drypoint and other related processes.
The Print Shed, housed in thoughtfully converted outbuildings offers
- specialist print studio
- drawing studio
- printmaking courses
- exhibition opportunities
- technical help
- specialist on site framing facility
The use of safe and environmentally friendly materials is strongly promoted.
A new studio has been built over this summer and is now in use. This studio is a purpose built Relief Print space with a large Imperial Press - an 1834 chunk of cast iron which we can use for lino block, for wood engraving and letterpress images. The enhanced space more than doubles the ground floor studio space, there is a smart little kitchen area, a separate area with ventilation for using smelly substances, and I have installed toilet facilities.
For more information about the studios and facilities call Jill Barneby on 07796 673123 or email info@theprintshed.net

Courses for 2012 begin mid February
Looking ahead this year. At The Print Shed couses will start mid February, on offer as always, Low toxic Etching, Lino using the wonderful big Imperial Relief Press, Collagraph either as an introduction/refresher course or more advanced using all manner of odd items to collage onto your printing plates. Good fun and we get to use the blow torch to melt stuff too.
New this year to the programme is Monoprint, this is a great way to work. Again there are so many different ways to do this that I can only touch the surface with this method. I am hoping my students will be able to show me some different tricks too!
Last year The Print Shed took part in a Print Exchange project with Hot Bed Press Studio - we all made 25 editioned prints on 20cm square paper - sent them off to HBP - and every participating artist received in return a very smart little Port Folio with containing 20 different prints. We were very excited and would definitely like to join the project again next year. The whole 20:20 Exchange Project - all 250 prints from 15 studios throughout the UK will be on show at The Print Shed in March this year as a part of the 20:20 Travelling Exhibition. Details will be posted as soon as I have them.
